Who we are

Fire, Gees & Braai! is published by Falo Games. Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), Falo Games is the responsible party for the information described here. You can reach us, including our Information Officer, through our contact page.

The game

On your device

Your progress, stars, coins, gear, Spice Book and settings are stored on your device. There's no account and no cloud save. We don't receive this information, and deleting the app deletes it.

Advertising

The game is free and shows ads from Google AdMob: rewarded ads you choose to watch (for example, extra time) and occasional full-screen ads between braais. The Google Mobile Ads SDK collects:

  • your IP address, and a rough location worked out from it;
  • device and app information, and how you interact with ads;
  • diagnostic and performance data;
  • your device's advertising identifier, only if you allow tracking.

Google uses this to show and measure ads and to prevent fraud. How Google uses data is described in Google's policy for partner apps.

Your choices

  • EEA, UK and Switzerland: Google's consent form asks for your choices before any ad loads. You can reopen it in the game's Settings under Ad privacy choices.
  • Tracking: iOS asks whether the game may track you. Ads are personalised only if you allow it. You can change your answer at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Sponsor a Braai

"Sponsor a Braai" in the game's Settings opens your phone's Mail app with a pre-filled message. The app itself sends nothing. If you send the email, we use your name, email address, phone number and message only to reply.

No purchases, no analytics of our own

The game has no in-app purchases, so we never receive payment details. It contains no analytics of our own.

When online features arrive

A later update will add online features such as Daily Challenge leaderboards, friend codes and a province table. They'll use a random player id that isn't linked to your Apple ID, the scores you submit and the province you choose. We'll update this policy before that happens, and you'll be able to delete your online data from the game's Settings.

This website

With your permission, this website uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. When you first visit, a cookie notice asks whether you allow analytics. Google Analytics loads only if you say yes. It then sets cookies (_ga and _ga_*, kept for up to 2 years) and collects information such as the pages you view, how you arrived, your browser and device type, and your approximate location. We use this only to improve the site, and we don't use it to show you ads. The website shows no ads. One essential cookie, braai_cookie_consent, is always set. It only remembers your choice, for six months. You can change your mind at any time from "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. Our hosting provider keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser, the page requested and the time) for security and to keep the site running, and deletes them after a short time. The contact page is on falogames.com. When you write to us there, we use what you send only to reply.

Children

The game isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. Ads are limited to a family-friendly content rating and, where the law requires it, are not personalised.

How long we keep things

  • Game data stays on your device until you delete the app.
  • Emails and enquiries are kept only as long as we need them to deal with your message.
  • Website analytics data is kept in Google Analytics for at most 14 months.

Where information goes

Google may process advertising and website analytics data outside South Africa, under its own safeguards for international transfers.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask to see, correct or delete personal information about you, or object to how it's used. Ask us through the contact page. Requests about ads go to Google, and tracking choices are in iOS Settings.

You can complain to the Information Regulator in South Africa. In the EU you can complain to your local data protection authority, and in the UK to the Information Commissioner's Office.
